Today’s Muslim: A Claim of Love or a Life of Contradiction?Islam
Today’s Muslim,
Beyond the SurfaceIslam is not merely a collection of outward rituals; it is a profound union of the Zahir (outward) and the Batin (inward). True Islam is not found just in a beard or the performance of the five daily prayers—it is the complete, unwavering submission to everything brought by the Prophet ﷺ.
We claim to be Muslims, yet our lifestyles, our ethics, and our social habits often mirror those who do not believe. The Integrity of Disbelief vs. The Hypocrisy of BeliefThere is a powerful lesson in the history of the Quraysh. When the Prophet ﷺ invited the leaders of Makkah through his uncle Abu Talib, he offered them a single Kalima (Word) that would grant them authority over both the Arabs and the non-Arabs.
Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab were ready to say even ten such words, but the moment they heard “La Ilaha Illallah,” they recoiled. Why? Because they were “honest” in their disbelief. They knew that accepting the Oneness of Allah meant they had to abandon their 360 idols, their wine, their usury (interest), and their immoral ways.
They understood that the Kalima is a covenant of change. Today, we recite the same Kalima, yet we refuse to leave the “idols” of our desires. We claim to love the Prophet ﷺ, but our homes are filled with the customs of others. The Standard of Haya (Modesty)Consider the household of the Prophet ﷺ.
Once, a blind companion came to visit. Even though he could not see, the Prophet ﷺ expressed his disapproval when Hazrat Aisha (R.A) was present, saying: “He may be blind, but you are not.” Contrast this with the “Modern Muslim.” In our weddings and celebrations, we discard every shred of modesty.
We dress our families in finery and present them before non-Mahrams without a second thought. We have lost the Ghairah (honor) of Faith, yet we still call ourselves “religious.” The Great IllusionIf our weddings, our business dealings, and our social gatherings look exactly like those of the non-believers, then what remains of our Islam? Faith is not a costume we wear to the Mosque and take off at a wedding party.
Today’s Muslim,
It is a reality that must govern every breath we take. ConclusionIt is time to stop deceiving ourselves. If we want the glory that the Kalima promised, we must live by its demands. We must choose between the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and the fleeting fashions of a lost world.
The Digital Trap: A Modern Idol? ﷺ
In our journey to analyze the “Today’s Muslim,” we cannot ignore the device that stays in our hands more than the Tasbih—the smartphone. As per global research, an average user interacts with their phone over 1,450 times a day. While we claim to be searching for knowledge, we often find ourselves lost in a digital abyss that takes us further away from the Sunnah. Our ancestors conquered their egos; we are struggling to conquer our scrolling habits. ﷺ
The Silent Impact on the Next Generation ﷺ
When we prioritize a glowing screen over the gaze of our children, we are teaching them that the virtual world is more important than human connection. Our homes, which should be centers of Dhikr and learning, have become hubs of digital isolation. If we do not reclaim our time now, the “Ghairah” (honor) of Islam will become a tale of the past. ﷺ
The Ebneeadam e Store Mission: Digital Dawah ﷺ
Recognizing this challenge, Ebneeadam e Store is committed to turning this poison into a cure.Today’s Muslim, We believe that if the Ummah is spending its time on screens, then those screens must be filled with the light of the Quran and Sunnah.
This is why we are working on the Complete Digital Tafsir and resources like “The Radiant Moon of Arabia ﷺ” and the “Holy Sites Guider“. Our goal is to ensure that even a casual scroller might find a path back to their Creator.
